Half-Way There

An ode to another day on the ranch.

I had plenty of blonde moments this past week and today was no different than any others. I got up and did chores fairly easily. Afterward, Ross and I drove Johnny's pickup back down to her house and check on her cat before the well man came to meet Ross. We hurried back home but the well man was already at the windmill- so Ross jumped in his pickup and met him over there.

I decided to go back to cleaning my disk out. I chiseled away with a hammer and a scew driver for most of the morning until Merle showed up with the tractor ready to stack some feed bunks. This was something that has been on my list for a while but isn't very efficient to do with one person. We were able to get them stacked and moved pretty quickly with only one minor problem. So, after we were done with the bunks I went to shut the gate and as I picke up the gate post I tripped right over it. Then, I shut it and get back in teh tractor. As we're driving away I tell Merle to stop and go back, After futher examination I note that I not only tripped but hook the gate upsidedown! Who does that! So, I go to change it and it's so tight I can't get it off and Merle has to help me...ridiculous! Now, I'm getting crap up the wazoo because Merle was giving me a hard time about talking to Danny Heins- the neighbor kid of sorts at the branding yesterday just before I got out to close the gate. Pretty sure that I will never live that one down. Afterward we headed in for lunch and managed to finish up the last of the huge lasagna pan! haha- but it has made some super good lunches:)

After dinner, I took off for the old house and got the lawn mower out and all set up to mow. I got no where further than half of a small section of Merle and Adrienne's lawn when Ross stopped in and asked if we could haul salt and mineral. So- from one project to another, we got in my pickup and went up and loaded 15 bags of each and took off for the big unit. I drove- which doesn't happen very often and led for an interesting pature ride, but we made it out alive with 3 bags left to spare! On our way back Merle was on the radio saying that the AC in the flatbed pickup didn't work and he never knew it. Well, I had told him a couple weeks ago so I gave him a hard time on the radio and it turned into a conversatio that everyone had to get in on. Mike made some comment tha this pickup didn't have very good air conditioning either...well it's got liek 400,000 miles on it! haha- it was pretty funny and of course turned out to be my fault! ;) but all in good fun, I should have said something when I dropped it off. Oh well, it's only our loss, Ross and I are the only one's who drive it! When we got home we unloaded and helped Dean finish the chores.

About that time, my mom, grandma, and mom's friend Patt pulled into the driveway. I had to call them and send them back because we were all doing chores and from the outside perspective it didn't look like anyone was here! But they came back and took a short tour before heading home and eating some real food for supper! Hooray:) I know it wont' last long but I don't mind the real food concept! It has been fun to have people around for a change, I think they will have some fun driving around and seeing things tomorrow as well. They all say hi to everyone in my blog world!

Now that I have a half cleaned disk, salt and mineral to still fill, and a half mowed lawn I can think of a few things to get done tomorrow...I think I'm gunna head to bed!
